This was a weekend where we saw stuff a real tourist will never see when coming to Australia.
We had rented a car on Friday to go on a road trip with Kate and Cathy. Our first stop was Kate`s home town Bowral. Her mum cooked a lovely indian dinner for us and we enjoyed the calm and peace that you never get in a city like Sydney.
The next day we left for Kangaroo valley. Destination: Kate`s uncles cottage in the mountains. It turned out to be a big adventure to even get there.. We went up some pretty steep hills with this tiny rental car and sometimes tought we wouldn`t make it. Then we finally reached……..paradise!
The cottage is a dream on top of a hill with magnificent views, 8000 acres of land, a trampoline, BBQ, fireplace and four wheelers!
Everything was so perfect it was unreal….

We had the time of our lives on the trampoline, swimming in the ice cold river, in the wild with the four wheelers and during the deep conversations at the fireplace in the evening.
On Sunday on our way home we had lunch at an Irish pub in the valley. There were a lot of bikers there as well. After we finished with the lunch the bikers had left and I invited everybody for Ice-cream. While we were having it an ambulance went past us. We wanted to head home after that, but the road was closed only a kilometre away by Police. We found out later in the news that a biker got killed by a fallen tree. We don’t know whether it was one of the bikers from our restaurant and when the accident had happened. But it made me realize how short life can be and that things could have gone differently if we hadn’t had that ice cream.
This is why I think you have to make the best of each day and enjoy life as we did on that road trip.
