Weblog entry February 28. – March 3. Shanghai

As in July, when I went to Beijing, I had planned a stop-over in China. Shanghai seemed to be a perfect contrast to Beijing and so I had decided to stop over here for three days.

And indeed Shanghai was very different to Beijing. It`s a bustling metropolis, very modern and active.

The first experience in Beijing was a ride on the transrapid. German high-technology that you can only find in China. It`s a magnetic highspeed train that goes up to a speed of 430km/h!

In the city the first impression you get it seems like there a skyscrapers popping out of the ground by the day.

As sightseeing is never fun alone I met another german girl who flew in the day after me. The internet has endless opportunities. I had posted a threat on a german students community and that`s how I found my new travel mate.

We explored the city together the next days.

Highlights:

A walk through the old town of Shanghai

A visit to the Museum of Technology

Shanghai Skyline by night

Two hours in the playzone of a shopping center

Chinese dinner: lamb bones in a blood sauce
