As the year is almost over it is time to reflect and remember what had happened in the past year.
2006 was no doubt the most exciting year of my life. As I was thinking about it only the year 2001 was nearly as good as this year. That year I got my drivers license, Bayern won the Champions league and I fell in love for the first time.
January-March
This year started in Orange County surrounded by family and friends.
Till March I studied in Mannheim with my close friends at Uni.
Then came the crazy Karneval in Cologne. I´ve never laughed as much in my life as I did in these three days. But it was also the (temporary) good bye from my friends back at Uni.
March-May
Only a day later, a new episode in the life of Alexander Brunst started in Wolfsburg at Volkswagen. The three months here were very intense and although the city is anything but beautiful I kept very special memories of this place in my heart. The people I met there were fantastic, especially Gila and my most faithful Weblog reader Daniel who remain close friends till today.
June-July
At the end of May the time in Wolfsburg was also over, but the next gigantic event was already waiting: The Fifa World Cup 2006 in Germany. We had been awaiting this mega event for the past six years and when it finally came it was better than I could have ever imagined. Fortunately, the German team played fantastic (although they did not win) and I got to see a lot of games. My personal highlights were Germany – Poland with the goal for Germany in the last minute and people just going crazy afterwards (including me) and Germany – Sweden in Munich after which Marc and I partied till 8:30 the next morning.
As if all the excitement about the world cup wasn`t enough, this event was also the time of our family reunion in Cologne Germany. More than 13 family members made it to Cologne, so the house was always filled. We went to see games together, did sightseeing in Cologne and Bonn, sang together and much more. The family tree of love, which we gave to mom is a symbol for the great times we had and will hopefully keep growing in future.
July-November
Shortly after the final it was time for me to start one of the greatest adventures of my life so far. Going to Sydney to study! It was always my dream to live in a Metropolis for some time, so this was a dream come true. And indeed all my expectations were met and the semester in Sydney was perfect. In fact these 5 months had so many Highlights that there is not enough space here to list them all. Sydney in my opinion is the most beautiful city in the world and you can spend years here still exploring new things. But of course the most important thing about any place in the world is the people you are with. My friends here were fantastic and I am very thankful that I was able to spend the time with them. Mr. Mikkelsen was like my twin brother during this time and Cathy and Kate not only room mates, but close friends. Not to mention Mr. Law, Bob and Sam who were always up for party and a good time.
November-December
With the end of semester and Mum`s arrival another episode in this never ending year began. We got to see a lot more of this beautiful country, enjoyed the time together and did not get into a fight once.
After my short summer school course the fun time continued and we welcomed the New Year with an 11 day straight party marathon.
The best about the end of this year is that 2007 offers a lot more of travelling, new friends and the return back to old friends.
